The most popular of my pattern templates from my recent May challenge was actually the one I created the day before it began > sg.hopscotch. Here is a sampling of different pattern colourings, cuz it always fascinates me how one design can evoke so many different images and ideas.

I guess my designs just slowly went downhill after that. Perhaps this was due to my disappointment over not being able to install seamless studio - a cool app where one can upload their own shapes, export as PNGs and more. I signed up for the colourlovers site and downloaded it fine, but after that... no go - just wouldn't install. Vy disappointing, but at least I got a few interesting pattern templates from the seamless tool available right on the colourlovers web site.

I've been feeling listless, unmotivated and lazy lately, so I've set myself a challenge in an attempt to give myself a kickstart. Not wanting to shock my system, and following from my post yesterday concerning my renewed interest in COLOURlovers, I going try and post a new pattern template, colour, palette, and pattern for each day this month (unless I have something more interesting to post :-) So here goes:

I've been away from one of my fave web sites, COLOURlovers, for awhile now (life is just too darn busy with the business of living life). But recently I began seeing notices in my In-box from the site so decided to revisit. They've made some great improvements since I've been gone, including the ability to view templates, so here is a great pattern template with some awesome colour variations:

When I find the time (which is rare lately) I'm finding inspiration all over the internet > reading blogs, following artists on redbubble, flickr and facebook, just stumbling across interesting images. I used to collect faves on all these sites and even had random folders on my computer with collections of images. But I never could remember what I'd found, where it was or why I'd bookmarked, saved or faved various images.

All this inspirational confusion led me to Zootool, a site for collecting all your favourite images, web site, videos, etc. in one handy place, with the ability to describe, tag and organize them.

I've been using it for a short while now and I've been very pleased with the results. It's easy to set up an account and start saving images with the provided tools. Organizing and searching is straight forward. And now I have just one site to visit when I'm looking for some inspiration.

As I mentioned a year ago, I purchased an iphone and almost immediately began using it to take and modify photos. This trend continued and now I've got myself a small collection of iphone pics uploaded to flickr in my iphone apping set including:

A number of family and friends order calendars from me each year (thank you!). This year I thought I’d offer a special twist on the calendar choices. When creating calendars I always attempt to assemble collections of twelve photos around a theme and I’m fairly proud of the results. However, as another option, I gave repeat customers the ability to choose their own twelve favourite photos and I’d create that calendar just for them. I was surprised but only one person took me up on the offer. (The reasons were of the too many choices, not enough time variety…)

So special thanks to KLJ who chose to create her own custom calendar! It was interesting to see which of my photos appealed to others and unsurprisingly, it was not always my favourite pics of the bunch that make the cut for her calendar:

As a favour for a friend, I created this tee inspired by the art of her son, Alex. I took elements from three of his pictures, recreated them in AI, changed some colours, sizes and mixed it all together to create a modernist take on space. I'm quite happy with the results. Hopefully Alex's father likes the t-shirt.
